Google has spoken out about the Huawei case. The American group recalls that it continues to update Huawei smartphones as long as Washington allows it. But, it strongly advises not to install its mobile services and apps on Huawei smartphones that have not been certified.<br />
<br />
Nine months ago, it was a particularly violent blow that fell on Huawei’s skull. The Chinese manufacturer was indeed sanctioned by the American administration and thus no longer had the right to do business with American companies.<br />
<br />
One of the main consequences of these sanctions is the absence of Google mobile services from Huawei devices released since May 19, 2019. Since the start of the case, if the Chinese group has spoken repeatedly, the word of Google has nevertheless become more rare.<br />
<br />
However, now, Tristan Ostrowski, legal officer of the American group, detailed several information on one of the support pages for Android.<br />
<br />
This is an opportunity for Google to explain the absence of its services on the new Huawei devices. “We have continued to receive a number of questions about new Huawei devices. And whether Google’s apps and services can be used on these devices”. Said Tristan Ostrowski.<br />

The legal representative explains that Google mobile services are only integrated on devices that have been certified by Google through the Play Protect program. However, this certification is done before production: “Play Protect certified devices go through a rigorous security review and compatibility testing process, performed by Google. This is to ensure user data and app information are kept safe”.<br />

However, due to the US embargo, Google could no longer work with Huawei. This means that smartphones launched after that date of the ban could not pass these security tests. They cannot therefore embed Google mobile services and are therefore not Play Protect certified.<br />

Google is also aware that some users are still trying to install its Play Services on Huawei smartphones released after the crisis. However, the firm strongly advises against this manipulation.<br />

Installing Google apps will not work reliably, since we do not allow these services to run on non-certified devices. Installing Google applications also poses a risk of installing an app that has been modified. It could compromise the user security.<br />

China called for solidarity on Thursday in a special meeting to discuss the coronavirus outbreak with Southeast Asian nations as it faces criticism for its handling of the epidemic.<br />

China’s foreign minister urged Singapore to ease its ban on Chinese visitors and discussed travel and trade restrictions at the meeting with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Thursday.<br />

At the meeting, ASEAN foreign ministers joined hands with Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and shouted “Stay strong, Wuhan!” Stay strong, China! Stay strong, ASEAN!”<br />

In a Wednesday night meeting with Singapore’s foreign minister, Vivian Balakrishnan, Wang said Beijing was worried about Singapore’s “restrictive measures”.<br />

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday February 19, revealed that that 103 people have been killed by Lassa fever since its recent outbreak on December 30, 2019. <br /><br />Late victims of the disease resided in Ondo, Edo, Ebonyi, Kano, Kogi, Kaduna, Taraba, Plateau, Bauchi, Enugu, Abia, Benue, Borno, Gombe, Sokoto and Katsina.<br /><br />A total of 586 cases have been confirmed across the country. Edo has the highest burden of confirmed cases at 35 per cent, followed by Ondo with 32 per cent and Ebonyi at six per cent. 26 states have also recorded at least one confirmed case across the 101 local government areas in the country. <br /><br />NCDC's report reads in part; <br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">

A man who was acquitted of rape last month has been charged with raping a 6-year-old girl.<br />
<br />
On Tuesday, February 18, Samuel Heber Butler, 24, from Utah, was charged with five felony counts for allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl and attempting to bribe her mother with money to keep her from contacting the police.<br />
<br />
This is Butler’s eighth time being accused of sexual assault, and his second time being charged with the crime.<br />
<br />
Just a few weeks ago, Butler was acquitted of sexually assaulting a student from Dixie State University back in 2017.<br />
<br />
Police arrested Butler last week after another woman reported that he had recently sexually abused her 6-year-old. Butler was charged with rape of a child, sodomy of a child, aggravated sexual abuse of a child, sexual abuse of a child and tampering with a witness in the 4th District Court.<br />
<br />
The mother of the child said she met Butler on Facebook weeks earlier and invited him to her home in Provo last Wednesday. She said during his visit, Butler and her daughter fell asleep on the couch, and she left the two and went to sleep in her bedroom. Documents state Butler took his clothes off along with some of the girl’s and raped her.<br />
<br />
The 6-year-old victim said Butler told her he wanted to "marry" her.<br />

"He also apologized for what he’d done and promised it wouldn’t happen again," wrote Deputy Utah County Attorney Dave Sturgill wrote in charging documents.</blockquote>
The girl ended up running to her mother’s bedroom and asked if she could sleep with her because Butler kept touching her. When the mother confronted Butler, he pleaded with her to not call the police and offered her money, reports The Salt Lake Tribune.<br />

Butler left the woman’s home but surrendered to police the next day. Reports show there is currently no court date.</div>

The announcement was made by the Egyptian Health Ministry and the World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday February 19, barely  48 hours after the foreigner was admitted to a specially designated hospital for isolation after being announced as Egypt’s first confirmed case of coronavirus on February 14. <br />

Egypt's Health Ministry spokesperson, Khaled Megahed explained that a medical team has been conducting periodic checks and analysis on the Chinese national. The PCR analysis was conducted six times over three consecutive days under the supervision of the Health Ministry and the WHO, and it came back negative in all the tests. <br />
<br />
Megahed further disclosed the Chinese national will remain under quarantine for the next 14 days.</div>

Lawrence "Larry" Tesler, the icon credited for his innovation that allows you cut, copy, and paste texts, has died at the age of 74.<br />
<br />
He died on Monday, February 17. His death was announced on Twitter on Wednesday, February 19, by Xerox, where he spent part of his career.<br />

Xerox tweeted. "The inventor of cut/copy & paste, find & replace, and more, was former Xerox researcher Larry Tesler. Your workday is easier thanks to his revolutionary ideas."<br />

Mr Tesler was born in the Bronx, New York, in 1945, and studied at Stanford University in California. Tesler specialised in human-computer interaction, employing his skills at Amazon, Apple, Yahoo, and the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC).<br />
<br />
The icon of early computing started working in Silicon Valley in the early 1960s, at a time when computers were inaccessible to the vast majority of people.  After graduating, he specialised in user interface design.<br />
<br />
He started at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), before Steve Jobs poached him for Apple, where he spent 17 years and rose to chief scientist. He went on to establish an education startup and did stints in user-experience technology at Amazon and Yahoo.<br />
<br />
Thanks to his innovations - including the "cut", "copy" and "paste" commands - the personal computer became simple to learn and use.<br />
<br />
"Tesler created the idea of 'cut, copy, & paste' and combined computer science training with a counterculture vision that computers should be for everyone," the Computer History Museum in Silicon Valley tweeted on Wednesday while paying tribute to him.</div>

Legendary goalkeeper, Iker Casillas has announced he will run to become the next president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in next elections. <br /><br />The 38-year-old Spaniard who lifted the World Cup with Spain in 2010 made the announcement on Twitter. <br /><br />He wrote: <div>

'Yes, I will stand for presidency of the Spanish FA when elections are called. Together we will put our federation at the top alongside the best football in the world: Spanish football.<br />'I've informed the president of my club FC Porto of the decision and I want to express my deepest gratitude.<br /> <br />'We're working on our candidacy with the highest respect. More than 23,000 voters await us in fair and transparent elections as 139 assembly members will make the key decision.<br />'Thanks for all the support and good wishes. Let's go for it!'</blockquote>
Casillas will face current RFEF president Luis Rubiales in the next election, which is expected to take place later this year. <br /><br />The legendary goalkeeper, who spent most of his career with Real Madrid, won three Champions Leagues, five La Liga titles and two Copa del Rey crowns. He also led Spain to glory, winning three major tournaments, Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.</div>

An Indian hemp farm located inside a school compound in Anambra State has been uncovered by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). <br />
<br />
45-year-old man Amobi Okafor, said to be the owner of the farm inside Lake City Secondary School in Nri community of Anaocha Local Government Area was initially arrested for allegedly macheting a security guard in the school during an altercation before the discovery was made. <br />

Commandant of the NSCDC in Anambra, Mr David Bille said; <br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“It would be recalled that on the 13/02/2020 following credible intelligence report, operatives of NSCDC arrested one Amobi Okafor ‘m’ aged 45 from Uruofo village, Nri, Anaocha LGA Anambra State.<br />
“The suspect was arrested at about 12:00 hrs for allegedly attacking, macheting and injuring one Mathias Ajoagu (security guard at Lake City Secondary School) m’ aged 71 years.<br />
“The suspect confessed to the crime and took the NSCDC operatives to the location, behind Lake City Secondary School, where he grows cannabis on a yearly basis.<br />
“Exhibits recovered from him include machet, fresh leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa(indian hemp) and other incriminating items.”</blockquote>
Billie further disclosed that Amobi will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to face the law and to serve as a deterrent to others, after an investigation into how he came about cultivating the illegal substance in the compound. </div>

The Ogun State Police Command on Sunday arrested a 30-year-old housewife, Shukurat Olufowobi for allegedly for beating her five-year-old stepson, Azeem Olufowobi to death.<br />

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta the Ogun State capital, said the suspect who lives in Oshodi Oke area of Ogijo in Sagamu local government area of Ogun State was accused to have used an object to hit the head of Azeem. </div>

Oyeyemi said the object gave the deceased skull injury that eventually led to his death. </div>

The PPRO added that the nurse who gave the victim first aid treatment and informed the couple of her observation was pleaded with by the woman and her friend to lie about the cause of the victim’s death. </div>

He added that the refusal of the nurse-led to the arrest of the wife and her husband who were about packing from the environment.<br />

The statement reads, “the suspect was arrested at about 12:30 pm of Sunday 02 02 2020 following an information received from members of the public who informed police at Ogijo division that the deceased boy was beaten with an object on his head which gave him a skull injury that eventually resulted to the death of the victim. </div>

“Information further revealed that the woman and her husband hurriedly took the corpse of the victim to Ajah in Lagos State where he was secretly buried. </div>

“Upon the information, the DPO Ogijo division CSP Suleman Baba Muhammed quickly mobilized his detectives to the scene where the couple who have started packing their belongings away from the area were promptly arrested. </div>

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman has been maltreating g the victim whose mother has separated from the father due to unreconcilable differences”.<br />

<i>“On the fateful day, the boy was beaten on the head with a heavy object which caused him a broken skull resulting to his eventual death”. </i></div>
