<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody> <tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SEE3y_Ix8wk/XbY6cyrpuQI/AAAAAAAACoI/2ecTW3IYQdAMdFnKeA0TDmGs5sjn-j8MgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/10x.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="503" data-original-width="558" height="287" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SEE3y_Ix8wk/XbY6cyrpuQI/AAAAAAAACoI/2ecTW3IYQdAMdFnKeA0TDmGs5sjn-j8MgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/10x.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr> <tr><td class="tr-caption"><i>Image credit: TheVerge</i></td></tr> </tbody></table> <br /> Microsoft has accidentally published an internal design document for its upcoming Windows 10X operating system.<br /> <br /> Spotted by WalkingCat, the document was briefly available online today and provides some more detail about Microsoft’s plans with Windows 10X.<br /> <br /> The software giant originally unveiled Windows 10X as the operating system powering the company’s new Surface Neo hardware, but it will also run on similar dual-screen devices.<br /> <br /> Microsoft has so far only officially confirmed Windows 10X will be available on foldables and dual-screen devices, with tweaks to both the Start Menu and taskbar, but it’s clear the company now has ambitions to bring those changes to traditional clamshell laptop hardware.<br /> <br /> “For both clamshells and foldables, the taskbar will be the same base model with a series of ‘levers’ which can be pulled to create some alternatives in the model,” explains the document.<br /> <br /> In Windows 10X, Microsoft now refers to the Start Menu as the Launcher, which has a stronger emphasis on local search: “Search is seamlessly integrated with web results, available apps, and specific files on your device,” reveals the document.<br /> <br /> “Recommended content is dynamically updated based on your most frequently and recently used apps, files, and websites.”<br /> <br /> Windows 10X will also improve the Windows Hello facial recognition authentication experience. “When the screen turns on you are immediately brought to a state of authentication; unlike Windows 10 where you first need to dismiss the lock curtain before authenticating,” reveals the Windows 10X document. “Upon waking the device, Windows Hello Face instantly recognizes the user and will immediately transition to their desktop.”<br /> <br /> Elsewhere in the leaked document, Microsoft also mentions a “Modern File Explorer.” The company has long been working on a more modern Universal Windows App (UWP) version of the traditional File Explorer, and it appears this will finally debut with Windows 10X.<br /> <br /> It will likely be touch-friendly, and simplified for access to documents stored in Office 365, OneDrive, and other cloud services.<br /> <br /> Microsoft is also simplifying the Action Center (notification center) and quick settings in Windows 10X. This will make it quicker to access critical device settings, and prioritize showing important ones like battery life.<br /> <br /> Windows 10X will also support customization here, but Wi-Fi, cell data, Bluetooth, airplane mode, rotation lock, and projection are all default quick settings.<br /> <br /> On the Office side, it appears Microsoft is prioritizing traditional Win32 versions of Office and the PWA web versions from Office.com for Windows 10X over UWP.<br /> <br /> Microsoft does have UWP versions of its Office Mobile apps, but the company put the development of those on hold last year.<br /> <br /> We’ll likely see a significant investment in the web versions of Office over the coming year before Windows 10X ships on the Surface Neo for holiday 2020.<br /> <br /> Microsoft pulled its Windows 10X documentation offline before we were able to see all the details. Undergrads in London, Manchester and Nottingham began stockpiling goods as photos emerged showing mounds of Amazon boxes in student bedrooms.<br /> <div> <br /></div> <div> One student said they received £2,500 worth of free goods while another claimed the glitch cost Amazon hundreds of thousands of pounds, according to The Sun.<br /> <br /> Some shared boastful pictures of rows and rows of loo roll, deodorant and other household goods. It looked they had bought enough supplies to cover their whole time at university.<br /> <br /> A 19-year-old student in Newcastle told The Sun: ‘We started looking for useful stuff that was a fiver or under and discovered there was loads that we could get that would be really handy – and also some pretty rubbish things we got just for the hell of it.<br /> <br /> ‘We’ll never need to buy toiletries, cheap novels, highlighter pens, folders or batteries again during our whole university career and well beyond.’ The business student said it became an addictive game as they got inventive trying to find whatever they could for £5. </div> <div> <br /></div> <div> They added: ‘We were up until 3am ordering and ordering because we figured that at some stage any minute Amazon would twig what was happening and pull the plug – but they didn’t.’ Ryan, a student in Nottingham, said he saved £164 on 36 items, including food, stationary, art supplies, charging cables and cleaning products.<br /> <br /> He added: ‘One of my flatmates used the discount to buy sex toys for his girlfriend. He praised the role of intelligence officials in laying the groundwork for the attack, saying that is the type of activity it should be focused on.<br /> <br /> Trump has taken issue with the intelligence community on various issues, including its conclusion that Russian meddling in the 2016 election was aimed at helping him win.<br /> <br /> His administration is also investigating the origin of the counter intelligence operation into Russian interference during the 2016 election.<br /> <br /> In what may end up being one of Trump’s most important national security achievements, the killing of Baghdadi will help the Republican president project strength as he fights a widening impeachment inquiry launched by Democrats last month.<br /> <br /> The impeachment inquiry focuses on Trump’s request for Ukraine to investigate a domestic rival - Democrat Joe Biden - for his personal political benefit. Biden’s son, Hunter, had served on the board of a Ukrainian gas company.<br /> <br /> Biden, who is a contender for the Democratic nomination to face Trump in the 2020 election, congratulated those involved in the operation, but did not mention Trump himself and again criticized the president’s Syria strategy.<br /> <blockquote class="tr_bq"> “We cannot afford to get distracted or take our eye off the target. And with that in mind, Toyota’s luxury marque is showing off a concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show this week that teases all sorts of far-out ideas that may or may not make it into its future electric vehicles, like gesture control, augmented reality, self-driving technology, in-wheel motors, and even drones.<br /> <br /> The LF-30 Electrified, as it’s called, is a wedge-shaped coupe packed with crystalline angles and protrusions both inside and out.<br /> <br /> It seats four, with the driver and front passenger essentially getting their own first class-style cockpits and nearly-matching futuristic displays, while the rear passengers are treated to bucket seats with “artificial muscle technology” that can “mold to their occupant.”<br /> <br /> The large windshield continues all the way up and over to the car’s rear end, and Lexus imagines using this glass roof as a display for information like “a realistic star-filled sky, user-favorite videos, and even navigation” for rear passengers — an idea Lexus unflinchingly refers to as “SkyGate.”<br /> <br /> LF-30 Electrified passengers will be able to interact with SkyGate through voice control, or with Minority Report-style gesture control.<br /> <br /> Artificial intelligence will be able to recognize “the voices of vehicle occupants” to help adjust air temperature, audio, or driving settings to occupants’ liking, aid in navigation, and even make “proposals for activities after arrival.”<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, the opacity of the windows can be adjusted to either let in or fully block outside light. Lexus is also stressing that the concept has been designed with sustainable materials, like charred cedar and recycled metal. And the car’s exterior is adorned with dynamic lighting.<br /> <br /> The LF-30 Electrified concept employs a number of futuristic technologies on the more mechanical side of things, too, ranging from the plausible to the outrageous.<br /> <br /> It uses in-wheel electric motors (instead of placing motors on each axle) which would allow for more dynamic driving, including something Lexus is calling “posture control,” which essentially adjusts the output of each motor in real time to keep the LF-30 composed in dynamic driving conditions.<br /> <br /> The car also uses steer-by-wire technology, meaning there’s no mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the drive train, which would allow the wheel to be moved forward when the LF-30 is operating autonomously.<br /> <br /> And of course the LF-30 Electrified concept has autonomous functionality. What self-respecting modern concept car wouldn’t? Lexus doesn’t go into great detail about what’s powering this autonomous capability, though, since it doesn’t really need to. Again, this is just the company positing what could happen someday down the road.<br /> <br /> That said, Lexus included a bunch of specs that give us an idea of what the company is targeting with its first electric vehicle (and whatever others follow).<br /> <br /> The LF-30 Electrified is designed around a 110kWh battery pack (so 10kWh bigger than what Tesla has on the road at the moment), which would deliver a range of around 500 kilometers (or roughly 310 miles) on Europe’s WLTP test cycle.<br /> <br /> The car could go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.8 seconds, with a combined power output of 400kW (536 horsepower).<br /> <br /> But the best futuristic flourish may be the “Lexus Airporter.” It’s what Lexus calls a “drone-technology support vehicle,” which can do things like carry luggage from an owner’s doorstep straight to the car.<br /> <div> <br /></div> <div> Source: <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2019/10/22/20927635/lexus-lf-30-electrified-concept-car-tokyo-motor-show-2019" target="_blank">TheVerge.com</a></div> </div>

That was our livelihood,” said Aboriginal elder Patricia Doyle, in her backyard piled with flotsam discovered in the now-exposed riverbed.<br /> <br /> “When you live on a river and you have to have water brought into your town to drink and survive on, what’s that saying? It’s saying that our system ... isn’t looked after properly.”<br /> <br /> The past two years have been the driest in the catchment area of the Darling, which flows 2,844 km (1,767 miles) over the outback to the sea, and adjoining Murray river since records began in 1900.<br /> <br /> Drought is weighing on economic growth, and the dire conditions have prompted Australia, a major wheat exporter, to import the grain for the first time in 12 years.<br /> <br /> Last summer was the hottest on record, and in Menindee, where temperatures regularly top 38 Celsius (100 Fahrenheit), another scorching season is expected.<br /> <br /> The government has set up a panel to evaluate water management and ordered its anti-trust watchdog to investigate trading in irrigation rights.<br /> <br /> Doyle’s clan is called the Barkindji, or people of the river, and in Aboriginal language, the Darling is called the Barka.<br /> <br /> The river is at the heart of stories about the origins of the clan and its cultural life, particularly evident in Menindee where a third of 550 residents are indigenous, compared with a national average of less than 3%.<br /> <br /> Lined with river red gums, the Darling also waters some of Australia’s richest grazing land, and until the construction of railways in the early 20th century, was the main route used to take wool and other goods to market.<br /> <br /> All aspects of society are now suffering. “The river country itself, it doesn’t provide as much as what it used to,” says Kyle Philip, a Barkindji hunter and goat musterer.<br /> <br /> Parents have forbidden children from swimming in the murky water that remains. Fish caught in holes still deep enough to hold water are inedible.<br /> <br /> “We could taste the mud in the meat of the perch,” said Philip. “We couldn’t really eat them.”<br /> <br /> Recently, Aboriginal communities held special festivals along the river “to heal the Barka”. Ochre-painted dancers performed around fires at dusk, revering the river but also seeking to draw attention to its plight.<br /> <br /> “We’re going to start dancing and singing the land,” organizer Bruce Shillingsworth said. “Singing the rivers, singing our environment back again to make it healthy.”<br /> <br /> And in the Anglican church at Menindee, there are prayers. “The river should be flowing,” said Reverend Helen Ferguson.<br /> <br /> “When that river flows, the people are just abuzz and the whole town just comes to life. Local police and community sources said the arrested man was believed to be Mo Robinson, from Portadown County.<br /> <br /> Robinson’s Facebook profile identifies him as a lorry driver and includes pictures of him in a lorry’s cab or next to haulage vehicles.<br /> <br /> The trailer Robinson collected had been delivered to Purfleet by ship from the Belgian port of Zeebrugge at around midnight last night. CCTV shows Robinson's truck driving into the industrial estate at 1.10am and the police arrived around half an hour later.<br /> <br /> Neither the nationality of the victims, nor the origin of the container before it got to Zeebrugge, is currently known. Similar weather patterns in the Antarctic stratosphere in September 1988 and 2002 also produced unusually small ozone holes. <br /> <br /> “It’s important to recognize that what we’re seeing this year is due to warmer stratospheric temperatures,” said Paul Newman, chief scientist for Earth sciences at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, in a statement. “It’s not a sign that atmospheric ozone is suddenly on a fast track to recovery.”<br /> <br /> In addition, there is no identified connection between these weather patterns and climate change, NOAA said.<br /> <br /> The ozone layer is important because it acts like a sunscreen, blocking potentially harmful ultraviolet energy from reaching our planet's surface. Without it, humans and animals can experience increased rates of skin cancer and other ailments such as cataracts. <br /> <br /> The naturally occurring ozone high up in the atmosphere is the "good" ozone and is in contrast to the "bad" ozone near the surface, which is man-made pollution that can cause respiratory problems.<br /> <br /> The annual ozone hole reached its peak size of 6.3 million square miles on Sept. 8 and then shrank to less than 3.9 million square miles during the remainder of September and October.<br /> <br /> In years with normal weather conditions, the ozone hole typically grows to a maximum of about 8 million square miles.<br /> <br /> Scientists first discovered the dramatic thinning in Earth's protective ozone layer and the ozone hole in the 1970s. They determined the production of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) used in refrigerators and aerosol sprays caused the problem. <br /> <br /> In the late 1980s, 196 countries signed the Montreal Protocol, a treaty that limited the production of CFCs around the world. Sateesh.<br /> <br /> A staff member photographed the students sitting in neat rows, their heads obscured by cardboard boxes. The front of the boxes had been cut out, allowing students to see their desks and exam sheets but restricting their vision, similar to blinkers used on a horse.<br /> <br /> The photo was posted on Facebook by a staff member and promptly went viral but it didn't take long for the school to start facing widespread criticism on social media.<br /> <br /> Even government officials weighed in. Suresh Kumar, the state education minister, said in a tweet that the school's practice was "unacceptable. Nobody has any right to treat anybody more so students like animals. I was into drug, I use to take cocaine, that is why my father broougt me here. But, instead of getting treatment, I have been sexually abused severally. </blockquote> <blockquote class="tr_bq"> “I have been through horror, Malam Nigga’s son in-law, Hassan Sani Dauda raped us daily. If it not me, it is another lady. He was like a daily thing for him. We have reported him severally to Malam Nigga, but he never believed us. He also make us make love to ourselves, I mean lesbianism. </blockquote> <blockquote class="tr_bq"> “For me, there is nothing like treatment there apart from beating us. They also put some leaves inside fire and cover us with the smoke under blanket to inhale the smoke, that all they call treatment.” She said. </blockquote> <blockquote class="tr_bq"> Asked whether she has been healed from drugs, Miss Muhannad said, “even if I don’t believe there was any treatment there, the sexual abuse I have been through in the hands of Hassan is enough for me to learn my lessons. Just because I will never want to experience such abuse, I will never go into drugs again.”</blockquote> Another inmate, Maryam Lawal 21 year old lady from Kaduna also alleged been sexually abused severally by the said Hassan.<br /> <br /> Maryam Lawal said she was taken to the centre by her father because she use to go to her friends houses, but she was never into drug.<br /> <br /> Ibrahim Musa a graduate of Software Engineering from Borno State said, he was brought to the centre seven weeks ago, but he had seen hell.<br /> <br /> He said, the Proprietor was only interested in using the inmates for cheap labour. Oko told newsmen that the driver of the hilux van and three other injured victims were rushed to the Central Hospital, Benin City for medical treatment.<br /> <br /> The Edo State Government who confirmed the incident in its condolence message wrote;<br /> <blockquote class="tr_bq"> “The development is extremely sad.
